As we would treat any friends in our home, your health, happiness and wellbeing are always our top priority.
We will continue to closely monitor and strictly adhere to recommendations from the CDC, World Health Organization and the New York State Government and Dept. of Health regarding the coronavirus (Covid-19). In order to maintain a safe environment, we will make adjustments based on the guidelines from these agencies and local health departments and specifics based on the tourism accommodation sector.
To comply with all state laws and guidelines, and because 14-day stays are not available at this time, we will not take reservations from guests traveling in from any of the states listed above. Please understand our effort to keep the Lodge safe is our promise to provide the best and safest experience possible for our guests, patrons and staff alike.
The following states and territories meet the criteria for required quarantine:

It is these aspects—the lodging of our guests along with the service that entails (food and beverage, cleaning, activity, organization, etc.)—and the interactions specific to our establishment (guest-guest, guest-staff, and staff-staff) that require specific attention. Our routines of educating and directing our team members have been further elevated and expanded upon during this time, below are measures we are taking to ensure a safe stay:
• Urban Cowboy Lodge will operate at a limited capacity and occupancy, with only 2x guests permitted per guest room.
• Our Food & Beverage program has changed its model to focus on outdoor and private in-room dining (dinner on your deck or breakfast in bed) Our Dining Room has transitioned into a to-go canteen. Indoor dining in public spaces will not be available.
• By design and in landscape, Urban Cowboy Lodge inherently fosters distancing with 28 guests rooms, in five separate buildings, set on 68 acres.
We always strive to maintain the highest level of standards with cleaning and housekeeping and our staff has been trained to follow industry protocols. In addition, we are implementing further practices during this time:
• Enhanced hygiene services
• All facilities are cleaned and sanitized in between activities with increased frequency of cleaning and a focus on high-use areas like door handles, switches, knobs and entryways.
• Availability of materials
• Alternative housekeeping program- daily refreshes are suspended at this time for spatial safety of staff & guests
• Mask will be required inside all buildings, with the exception of in guests rooms
•Social distancing at a minimum of 6 ft between individuals and groups who did not book together will be strictly enforced
For us, this is simply looking out for our guests the same way we always have, in the context of today’s circumstances.
Deposits for reservations are 100% refundable up to one week before check in and non-refundable if canceled within one week of your reservation.
Any reservation canceled within 48 hours of the arrival date will be charged the full reservation cost.
COVID related cancelations are dealt with on a case by case basis to ensure the safety of our guests and our staff.
Urban Cowboy Lodge ain’t your average Catskills roadside inn. We have 28 uniquely designed rooms in five buildings featuring a few signature suites with clawfoot bathtubs for two and pot belly stoves. All our suites come complete with private decks, Wright mattresses, and floor-to-ceiling hand-printed wallpaper. The Main Lodge is four floors including our breathtaking 6-bedroom penthouse suite.
What time is check-in and check-out?
Check-in is between 3 and 9pm. Check-out is 11am.
Office hours are 7am-9pm. If you’re arriving after 9, or checking out after 11, just let us know so we can plan for you.
What is your reservation policy?
You must be 21 or older and have a credit card to make a reservation. You will be asked to provide matching photo ID and credit card at check in. Only the reservation holder will be permitted to check in at the time of arrival. If you’d like to make arrangements for additional names to be added to the reservation, just let us know and we’ll make it happen. It’s a theme around here.
How is my room guaranteed?
We take a credit card at the time of booking to hold your reservation and process one-night room and tax (if you’re not booking with an advance purchase rate). When you check in, we’ll ask you for a credit card and an ID that matches.
How can someone else pay for my stay?
If someone else is paying for your stay, they will need to fill out a credit card authorization form. Email us at email@example.com for a copy.
How do I verify my rate and reservation?
When you reserve a room, we’ll send an email to say we love you and provide all your details– confirmation number, room rate, number of guests, duration of stay, and more. We can also confirm this information over the phone.
How do I cancel or change my reservation?

Can I bring my pet?
Yes, but by request only. Please email us prior to booking as we have a limited number of dog friendly rooms available, there is a one time pet fee of $75.
Are there smoking rooms and areas?
Smoking is prohibited in rooms and on decks! But smoking is allowed in some outdoor areas. There is a $250 fee for smoking where it is not permitted.
Where is the hotel located?
37 Alpine Road, Big Indian, NY, 12410.
The Lodge is situated on 68-acres abutting the Big Indian Wilderness Forest Preserve, the longest stretch of uninterrupted virgin forest in the Catskills.
Where do I park?
When you arrive, park in one of the lots outside the Main Lodge. Come check in and we’ll direct you from there.
Can I receive packages?
Yep. You can have packages sent before or during your stay. Please send to [Your Name, Care of Urban Cowboy Lodge, 37 Alpine Rd., Big Indian, NY 12410}. If the package arrives before you do, we’ll hold it (we can only hold packages for ten days).
Can I rent venues?
From the Lawn to the Den to the Living Room to the Garden, we have beautiful spaces to rent for private events. Email email@example.com for details on spaces and event packages.
Can I take professional photos?
Yes. No. Maybe. To protect the experience of all our guests, we’re only able to accommodate certain shoots at certain times. Fill out our photo shoot form and we’ll get back to you. Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org for a copy.
How do I get there?
You will lose cell service roughly 30 minutes before you reach the Lodge. If your phone has downloaded the map, GPS will continue to work. If not, follow the directions below, old world style.
Driving from New York City – Take 287W to I-87N. Stay on I-87N to exit 19 towards NY-28/Kingston/Rhinecliff Br. Take NY-28 for 31 miles towards Pine Hill. Turn left on Oliverea Rd for just under 4 miles. You’ll see a cool sign for “Urban Cowboy Lodge”. Turn right before the sign onto Burnham Hollow Rd. You’ll see another cool sign for the Lodge immediately. Turn left after the sign onto Alpine Rd. That’s our driveway.
By Bus – Take the Adirondack Trailways Bus to Big Indian or Phoenicia. Transportation will need to be arranged from the bus stop to the Lodge. Buses leave from Port Authority Terminal, 8th Avenue & 41st Street in New York City.
Train- Take Amtrak to the Rhinecliff station. Transportation will need to be arranged from the train station to the Lodge. Check Amtrak for train arrival and departure times, fares and route information.
What should I bring?
It depends on what you want to do. Safe bet is to bring appropriate footwear for snow or rain and some gear you don’t mind getting dirty if you plan on stomping around outside (we recommend it). If you want to make cell phone calls from the property, activate WiFi calling on your phone prior to arrival.
